Summer (April - October)

During the warmer months there are three weekly training sessions. Although the Tuesday and Thursday sessions are aimed at specific teams within the club, other club members regularly turn up to organise their own games or drills alongside.

Tuesday evenings [Second Team/Mixed Teams]: This session is held at Greville Smyth park in Long Ashton, Bristol [directions below]. The session runs from around 6:00pm through until either light fails or fatigue sets in. Sessions are well structured and will generally consist of a warm up run with stretching afterward. This is followed by general fitness and throwing/running drills. The session then moves into structured gameplay. These practices are currently free.

Thursday evenings [Experienced Players]: A first team dedicated session [invite only]. This session is much the same as the Monday session, just up a gear or two! Drills and warm up followed by structured play. These practices are currently free.

Sunday afternoons: We practice on Durdham Down near the water tower [directions below]. The sessions run from around 11:00am onwards. This session is aimed at encouraging beginners and less experienced players, although all levels of player are welcome. These practises are currently free.

At the bottom of the slip road, take a left at the mini roundabout (this is signposted to Aretians RFC) Follow the road round and go straight over the 1st mini-roundabout, then turn right at the 2nd mini roundabout. At end of road turn left. Entrance to Aretians is the first left about 20m down the road. DIRECTIONS

Parry's Lane: [Thursday] From the top of Blackboy Hill turn right instead of straight on towards the water tower. Then take the next left (A4018 Westbury Rd - the one that goes to Cribbs Causeway). At the next roundabout turn left - this is Parry's Lane - and head down the hill. When you reach a mini-roundabout, you should be able to see the park on your right.

Failand : [Thursday] This session is held at the 'Firebrands Hockey Club' about 3 miles South West of Bristol in Failand. If you are driving from Bristol cross the Clifton suspension bridge and follow the road along to the traffic lights at the T junction. Turn right and follow the road to the next set of traffic lights. Turn left. Follow this road to the traffic lights at the next junction. Turn left. Follow this road along and after a short distance you will find 'Firebrands' on your left. The pitches should be easy to spot as they are right next to the road and lit by whopping great floodlights!

The Downs: [Sunday] These sessions are held near the water tower [a great big concrete water tower, visible for miles around] at the top of BlackBoy Hill in bristol. The exact location of the pitches may vary, but are always somewhere within sight of the tower. It is easy to park close by.

Greville Smyth: [Thursday] Greville Smyth is an open park situated in Long Ashton, Bristol, just behind the Bristol City Football ground. The park can be accessed directly from Ashton Road which runs off one end of North street in Bedminster. Whilst parking can be a little awkward it is always possible to get a space reasonably close by.
